January 13, 2010 – A Rock…Way Up In My Nose

Uh oh. I stuck a rock up my nose at daycare today. I tried and tried to get it out but I just made it bleed. When Miss Cassie tried to put me down for a nap I finally fessed up and told her I put a rock in my nose. They called Mommy at work and she rushed to get me and take me to the hospital. We had to wait a long time and then the doctors (it took 3 and Mommy) wrapped me tight in a blanket and held me down. Next, they shoved a tube with a balloon up my nose. The doctor couldn’t get it to go all the way so they had to do an x-ray to see the blockage. We had to wait a long time again and then they took me to another room where again it took 3 people and Mommy to try and hold me down for the x-ray. I kept moving so it took 3 x-rays before they said enough. We waited more and then the doctor finally came and said she didn’t see anything that I must have swallowed it. Mommy and Daddy have a few things they have to watch for but I’m ok.

We went to the new Cardon Children’s Hospital and they had a few fun things to play with but I think both Mommy and I would’ve preferred Phoenix Children’s. Now we know!  While we were waiting two different parents told stories of their kids putting stuff in their nose, having to go the hospital and then doing it again the next day. Mommy laughed but I could see the fear in her eyes (I wouldn’t!). When we got home and I was eating my string cheese with dinner I tried sticking it up my nose (same nostril) saying, “Flashlight go in there". Mommy didn’t find the humor in it but I think she gets why kids do it the second time.

Yeah I’m sitting on the table. You try and contain me for 5 hours in a boring room and I bet you’ll let me sit on the table too.
